Short Story Review: Euphoria in the Desert

I read the ARC for this short story called Euphoria in the Desert. This short story was not only fun and witty but it was also clean and I think you would like it. I found it easy to read and a page turner. It kept my attention and I didn’t want to put it down. I rate this short story 5 stars.

So if you KU (Kindle Unlimited), read it or you can buy the book at Amazon.com. Not sure what the price is internationally but in Amazon US it is $.99. How long that price will last well I really don’t know. I really enjoyed this short story. It’s unpredictable.

A Strange Funeral

We all go to funerals in our lives for our family and friends. We also hope and pray that our children don’t die before us but life doesn’t always happen that way.

I just recently went to a funeral since my Aunt died. This funeral was like no other. The funeral was held in the  dark since there was no electric. Toward the end of the end of the funeral and before the luncheon the lights came back on. The food had to heated up elsewhere. When I asked my parents why there was no electricity? They said, the power company had scheduled a power outage during the time of the funeral. When you don’t know it’s scheduled, it is really strange and weird.

What’s the strangest funeral you’ve been to? What’s the strangest thing that has ever happened to you? Let me know.

Challenges & Dreams

WELCOME TO CRYSTAL'S SITE(ORIGINALLY COUNTRY LIVING)

Ever been challenged? Really challenged? I have. Whether you’ve been challenged in school, work, maybe you’ve started your own business or even better, you’ve written a book or books. No matter what your challenges are everyone has them. What do I mean? Well it’s quite simple actually. Life is one big challenge.

I don’t know about anyone else but I had challenges in school, work and now I purposely challenged myself to write a book just to see if I could. My result: I’ve written 1 book and have the second book written. After that, I’ll challenge myself to write a third book. As it happens my goal has gotten bigger to write my first book box set. I look forward to achieving this goal.

So if you have a dream and you think it’s to big to achieve or your dream will never happen. Think again because dreams only…

Recipes For Cats

DSCN0087
QUEEN DAISY MAE SHOWING OFF HER GREY AND WHITE BELLY. (ORIGINAL PICTURE).

I thought I’d do something different. We do recipes for but rarely do recipes for cats or dogs. I thought I would do some recipes for cats.

I follow TWO Spoiled Cats and found this recipe a few days ago on their blog and liked it that I wanted to share it with you.

RECIPE FOR CATS: SALMON KITTY TREATS

Ingredients

10 oz canned salmon undrained.

1 egg beaten

2 cups whole wheat flour

Instructions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Pulse 10 oz canned salmon (undrained) in a food processor and/or chop as finely as possible.

In a mixing bowl using a hand or stand mixer, combine salmon, 1 egg (beaten) and 2 cups whole wheat flour until dough forms. If dough is too dry, add up to 1/3 cup of water. If dough is to wet or sticky, add a bit more flour. Dough should be tacky but not sticky.

Roll out dough on a floured surface until about 1/4 inch thick. Use a 3/4-inch cookie cutter in the shape of your choice to create your treats (or just form with your hands!)

Place treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. When they’re slightly browned and crunchy, they’re done.

Allow to cool before serving.

Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

CAT RECIPES: CHICKEN TREATS

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups cooked chicken, shredded

1 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup chicken broth

1/3 cup cornmeal

1 tbsp. softened margarine

Instructions

While your oven is preheating to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, combine the chicken, broth and margarine, then add the cornmeal and flour. Knead the dough into a ball and then roll it out to 1/4 inch. Cut into one-inch pieces and bake for 20 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.

CAT RECIPES: CHEESE TREATS

Ingredients

3/4 cup shredded or grated cheddar cheese

3/4 cup whole wheat flour

1/4 cup sour cream or yogurt (plain)

1/4 cup cornmeal

5 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

While your oven is preheating to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, combine all the ingredients into dough (add a touch of water if needed). Knead the dough into a ball and then roll it out to 1/4 inch. Cut into one-inch pieces and bake for 25 minutes on a greased cookie sheet.

💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

DAISY MAE AND I hope one of these recipes appeals to your cat. Cats deserve treats frequently and daily.

*Full Disclosure* I found these recipes on TWO Spoiled Cats blog. The original post of recipes can be found at TWO Spoiled Cats blog and also on the internet. I’ve not tried these recipes on my cat since I’m not a cook. You can create your own combinations by cooking with your kitty favorites by substituting key ingredients.

If you make any of these treats let me know how it goes and how your cat likes it.

Sabi Saturday

Hello and welcome everyone to CRYSTAL AND DAISY MAE’S PHOTO-BLOGGING SITE. Daisy Mae And I are happy you are here. For those of you who don’t know what Sabi Saturday (and yes we know it’s Sunday) is here is a brief explanation that might help you. It is:

  • the vintage/antique item(s) handed down or we “rescue” from garage sales and thrift stores so they don’t end up in the trash bin.

  • items we’ve upcycled instead of throwing them away.

  • items we’ve repaired in a transformative way to make them more beautiful or cooler than before.

  • the main idea is showing how we treasure or reuse or creatively transform things that have some history to them, may be a bit worn but nevertheless are still useful/beautiful and often have character.

Now that you know what Sabi Saturday is Daisy Mae And I hope you will visit Cactus Catz for the Sabi Saturday blog hop and for more information. It’s not only fun but it might just get you more traffic on your blog. We look forward to seeing what you have in store for us. If you can’t make it on Saturdays no worries Sabi Saturday blog hop usually lasts about 5 days. For more info go to the link above and ask them.

Daisy Mae And I have for our Sabi Saturday this week an old jewelry box that the artwork on it looks well… Japanese. I know I know you’re probably thinking a jewelry box is a jewelry but in this case you would be wrong.

Sadly I don’t know much about the history of this old jewelry box because I wasn’t thought of yet. When one of my relatives(I think his name was “Uncle Ted) who was in the war(not sure which one) came home to see my Aunt Kay Dee he brought this jewelry box back to give her as a gift. She of course was thrilled to see him but also thrilled with the jewelry box. Then when she passed away her family cleaned out her house. However and for some reason, there was not one person who wanted the jewelry box. In fact, her side of the family brought us this jewelry box as well as a lot of other items they did not want. When we went through the boxes of stuff they didn’t want it was hard to believe they passed this stuff up. We came to the jewelry box and Mom asked if I would be interested in taking it. I said yes I would take it. I took this jewelry box because I needed it but because it belonged to my Aunt Kay Dee for many years and yes it is beautiful. I have a passion for jewelry and jewelry boxes so it comes in handy. Yes, I use it to keep jewelry in too.

Below is a picture of the last picture I have of my Aunt Kay Dee who I inherited this old, beautiful jewelry box from and the picture of the Jewelry box.

ABOUT A BICHON FRISE.

MAXI

MAXI, you were looking for a furrever home… One that would love you forever no matter what.

Then one day a miracle happened. A wonderful, loving family who had just decided they wanted a pet and wanted it to be a small dog walked in just too look.

When you noticed they were looking your way, you tried to be as cute and beautiful as you could. You even showed off by showing this family how cute you really were.

MAX SLEEPING UNDER THE COVERS IN HIS OWNER’S BED.

You have brown eyes like that of a beautiful brown Butterfly. Your nose is pink with black speckles on it. You were a small white Bichon Frise dog who looked like a medium sized snowball.

Because this wonderful family decided to get a dog, you now have a wonderful and loving furrever home. Although you didn’t have a favorite football team when they got you, you somehow became an Eagles Fan.

MAX IN HIS EAGLES SHIRT AND HAVING BAD HAIR ON HIS PENGUIN BLANKET!!

You ended up being a Mama’s Boy and really enjoyed being with her, cuddling with her and laying in those sunpuddles. You also loved cuddling with your “sister” on a Penguin blanket, chasing the Squirrels and Chipmunks, Posing for pictures but most of  all you really liked and enjoyed being with your family. You also hated going out into the snow where it was really cold.

Before earning your your wings to go over the Rainbow Bridge after almost 13 years you had so much fun with your furrever family you didn’t want to say goodbye so instead you decided to say farewell. Although your family will mourn your passing and grieve in their own way, they will always have the memories that they will cherish and they will never forget you.

Eileen’s Critters And My First Sunday Selfie Well Sort Of

I have a special Eileen’s Critters And Sunday Selfie this week. On June 10, 2019 we got a picture of the our first Fawn of the 2019 season. Sorry if the picture is dark but Mamma Deer isn’t brave enough yet apparently to bring her baby out in daylight. I had to share this with you.

After a drink I think Mamma Deer is going to show her baby the ropes on how to go about posing for Sunday Selfies. For the first time I think this little Fawn did pretty good. Honestly, I think the Fawn is more interested in getting a drink. Mamma Deer is multitasking. She’s eating and posing for her Sunday Selfie and for Eileen Critters.

FIRST BABY FAWN OF 2019.
