Crystal and Daisy Mae
Hi Everyone Crystal And Daisy Mae here, so where have we been all this time? Well on December 13, 2021 Crystal and the Dad that’s my human Dad got their second vaccine shots. Thankfully, no reaction for the Dad but for Crystal well that was a different story. Boy did Mom Crystal have a reaction. No not an allergic but her reaction was she got sick. She got the headache, earache, soar throat and a few other symptoms and has yet to get rid of them. She has tried everything she can think of but finally had to stop the cough drops for sore throats because one of the side effects was she started getting ulcers on her gums and gum line. Then what happens but life happens again and again and things are getting so stressed and frustrating she doesn’t know what to do except go live in fantasies and imagination. So Posting got put on the back burner and we are real sorry for that. We don’t know when we’ll post again so were on an indefinite temporary break.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST EVERYONE!!
First Off, when you’re thinking about bringing another pet into your family, there are several important suggestions/pointers I have about doing that. So what are they you ask? Below are a few I have and you may be able to think of some others too. Now on to those pointers/suggestions.
Point #1: Always consider where you’re living – Are you in an apartment, Pet friendly apartment or a house?
Point #2: When you think you’ve made a decision but you have a family, always take your idea to the family. In other words, call a family meeting and tell them what you want to do then talk it over as a family and let the children know that their ideas will be considered.
Point #3: When you’re decision has been made to get a pet, now the next part you want to talk with the family is what kind of pet do you want? Do you want a Cat, A Dog, A Bunny, A Feathered, etc… Whatever pet you decide on, you have to decide on a small, medium or large, make sure you’ll be able to:
a. you’ll have enough time to care of your new pet.
b. make sure you can take care of a new pet.
c. make sure you can afford a new pet. Pets are and can be expensive.
d. Always make sure your new pet has room to exercise and play.
e. Always make sure your all your pets have lots of love.
Point #4 & 5: Once you decided on what type of pet you want: Cat, Dog, etc…, now it’s time to go to local rescue/adoption shelter for pets. Most shelters have animals that make great pets. However, be very, very careful of those places that bring animals into malls and places like that. Ask plenty of questions like you would at a shelter. If the people can’t answer your questions and you know more about taking care of that pet than they do then walk away. Don’t get yourself into a situation where it ends in a catastrophe. Let me give you an example that actually happened to my family and I. We had just lost one cat and my family and I had finally decided to get another Cat. The only thing was, we decided we wanted a Kitten not a full grown Cat. Well being at the mall practically daily since I worked at a store in the mall I would walk down, there were animals that could be adopted. We adopted a kitten. Watch out for red flags. Examples of red flags are: a. You know more than the people trying to get you to adopt the animals. b. When the people argue with you and don’t listen to you. c. If they try to act like they know more than what they do it’s time to walk away. d. Another red flag is when the person tells you if the Cat dies within a week to let them know. Just to let you all know my family encountered this situation and sadly the cat we adopted only lived a week. She was to young to be flea dipped and we tried to tell the people she was to young they didn’t listen. I named her Cutie Pie. Cutie Pie only lived a week before earning her wings and flying to the Rainbow Bridge and beyond. This was quite some time ago but ended tragically.
So the moral is when you decide to get a pet, always start by making it a family decision & include the children, start by looking at a reputable animal shelter, always prepare for extra bills with your pets, Always look for red flags (hints that the people or animal isn’t reputable, always listen to that gut feeling that says something isn’t right because walking away is better than losing a pet in a weeks time (trust me I know) & if it seems to be good to be true it probably is.
Daisy Mae And I, we say always adopt and/or rescue a pet first but some would say getting a pet from a breeder is like rescuing a pet because the pets are not used like the breeder wants them to be they have become part of someone’s forever family.
So who is this beautiful Cat named Snowball? Snowball is one of my Angels. She passed earned her wings and passed over the Rainbow Bridge many, many, many, many years. A guy who was the friend of the family came to our door one day for something and when he saw Snowball, he said we should have named her Avalanche.
Snowball is a rescue Cat who before we rescued her, lived on the streets and went from house to house trying to find something eat and find a place to sleep and try to stay warm. You all know how children are when they want something, they are good at concocting plans and schemes even if that means getting the one parent to go against the other and come in with them on their plan. Well that’s what happened with my two sisters and I teamed up with Mom to try to get Dad say yes but to no avail he kept saying “When Pigs Fly” AKA a big fat NO. Well if you have a cat or even owned a cat then you know Cats can sense who the person is they need to convince. Snowball sure could sense that person was Dad. So one day on a gorgeous day with plenty of sunshine, Dad went out on the Front Porch to enjoy the gorgeous day and the sunshine. Eventually, Dad got tired and stretched out on our glider to take a brief nap. Surprisingly, Snowball showed up and tritti trotted up the stairs to the Front Porch and hopped up on glider and curled up tight against his back and snuggled in to take a nice long kitty nap. When Dad awakened from his nap, he found Snowball sleeping on the glider with him tight up against his back. Well to say the least that did it, Pigs flew that day because Dad finally relented and Mom, My two Sisters and I got a victory because we rescued Snowball and from that day forward, Snowball had found her purrfect furrever, loving home where she got plenty to eat, plenty of toys and gave us so much fun and joy. Eventually, we got a dog who was a Pure Bread Female Alaskan Malamute, Snowball tolerated Shandar our Alaskan Malamute and lived many years with her. A picture of Snowball with Shandar is below.
Reflecting on last year made me really think about the last year and few months & how it was good, bad and yes even ugly. Let’s start with the Good.
Everything up to April 22, 2021 with live giving us a few minor ups and downs but nothing major just colds, allergies. I even helped my parents around the house inside and out. Dad and I once a week would go for groceries. We always had fun and we brought Dinner home that’s Lunch to you city folk. I enjoyed walking and talking to the neighbors a few times a week, meeting new neighbors and their pets usually a Dog. Things were just as normal as they could be during COVID 19 times. I was just thrilled my family and I were fortunate enough not to catch the nasty virus going around called COVID 19. Then it happened really happened. Really happened. The Bad finally caught up with us and more about that below.
As I said before, the bad finally caught up with us and boy did it ever. So what do I mean by that phrase? Let me explain. After Dad and I developed symptoms of COVID 19 that could be explained away as a cold, pulled muscles and allergies so neither one of us thought anything of it then my youngest sister stopped by to check on Mom and Dad and to see if they needed anything we didn’t. However my sister said to my Dad that he didn’t look to good and that she thought he needed to be tested for COVID 19 and after she said that, I said in that case I want to be tested for COVID 19 too. On April 22, 2021 a couple days later and the same day we were supposed to get our first COVID 19 shot but instead we ended up being tested for COVID 19 and guess what? We both were positive for COVID 19. Not a good day. Next then I know a few days later, I noticed Mom having symptoms of COVID 19. Now she was never tested but we suspect she had it since she was in a house with 2 people who were COVID po19 positive. My other younger sister came down for a week to help take care of Mom and Dad. When my sister left at the end of the end of the week, she decided to get tested for COVID 19and sure enough she was COVID 19 positive. You know how it goes, your taught to share, share alike and that’s what Dad and I did, we shared COVID 19 with the family.
From April 22, 2021, my Dad was in and out of the hospital about 4 times if not more plus he had to relearn how to walk. Dad’s getting stronger each day and he has learned how to walk again. Also, on April 22, 2021, I was thrown into being a full time caregiver for both of my parents too.
So after all this, you probably think if that’s the Bad then what’s the ugly? Shall we go onto the Ugly? Check that out below.
On December 13, 2021, I finally got my second COVID 19 shot. No big deal right? Wrong. You may remember seeing on the news and hearing that there are people who have reactions to the second shot or even the first COVID 19 shot for that matter. Also, it is said by doctors that you may get sick or symptomatic after your second shot but the symptoms are usually mild. Well after my second COVID 19 shot, sure enough didn’t I get sick and became symptomatic on December 13,2021. For 2 months I kept thinking whatever I had was finally going to go bye byes—it didn’t and so I finally decided to go to my new Doctor. He gave me a 5 day antibiotic and some nasal spray but neither worked. Fast forward to March 29, 2022 and low and behold I’m still sick with whatever it is I have. So this why I haven’t been posting as much.
I look forward to getting better from whatever it is I have.
Here is Queen Daisy Mae sleeping on her royal throne with a Tigger Tabby Cat pillow behind her and she is sleeping among he animal friends. Of Course being a very smart Kitty Cat and always on watch one way or another with one eye open and on her head. Daisy Mae feels like royalty not only when she is on her throne but all the time.
Happy New Year Everyone.

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁MERRY CHRISTMAS SANTA PAWS🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁
Dear Santa Paws,
I’ve been a very good Kitty Cat this year. OK, yes I’ve been very demanding, adamant and very bossy and even scratched Mom Crystal but that was an accident. Don’t we all deserve a second chance? Santa Paws, I’m asking you to bring me some more catnip pads for me to lay on, Catnip and Pole to play with. Also, I’m asking you to bring my Mom Crystal some nice things for Christmas. You see Santa Paws, Mom Crystal has had a rough year especially these last 7 months or so and she really, really, really, really deserves some nice things. Could you see to it she gets the bookcase she wants as well as books to fill it.
Santa Paws, Mom Crystal and I believe in you and think you’re great.
🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄Merry Christmas Santa Paws!!🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Hi everyone, it’s that time of the of the year for doing Secret Paw. What’s Secret Paw you ask?? Well…for those of you who don’t know, Secret Paw is buying a surprise Christmas gift for that special Cat or other pet or pets. I got in it again this year and when Mom Crystal and I found who our Secret Paw was, we started shopping on Amazon right away well Mom Crystal did anyway. All gifts that were picked out had to be approved by me so that took until Cyber Monday Night when we literally had only 3 minutes and 8 seconds to place our order so we cut it close but the order was placed in time. MEOW, Thank Heavens for that.
We love our Secret Paw and think it will be a surprise to our Secret Paw too. Mom Crystal picked out some nice things but you know how Amazon is with Subscribe and Save…Even if you only want to order it once they revert it back to Subscribe and Save so that’s why it took so long to pick things out. But in the end , I’m happy with what we got and Mom Crystal was able to use a coupon Amazon. Boy am I excited to see what my Secret Paw got me, who it is, and where there from.
Merry Christmas To All And May Santa Paws Bring You All Lots Of Goodies.

What is Remember Me Thursday? Remember Me Thursday is a special day when we remember all the pets we’ve adopted and saved. Each pet that was either rescued/adopted is very unique in their own special way.
I’ve no my family and I have adopted/rescued all our pets that we’ve had. OK, I’ve had 2 dogs that were pure bread and from breeders but I consider them adopted/rescued too because in my mind, we rescued/adopted them from the breeders. No more breeding—Yeah!!
I would like to share some Rescue/Adoption stories with you. Stories are below.
Adoption Story #1: Snowball
Snowball our white cat was rescued/adopted from a life of being a stray cat and going house to house trying to find food to eat. She also dealt with cruel neighbors. Finally, she found our front porch. One beautiful sunny Afternoon while Dad was laying on the glider taking a nap. Snowball knew she had to convince Dad to take her in the house so she jumped up on the glider with Dad and cuddled up to him and took a nap with him. When Dad realized this, he agreed to take her in and we named her Snowball. Snowball got her furrever home.
Adoption Story #2
Shandar is the Dog we had before we rescued/adopted her from the breeder.
As kids, we wanted a Dog. We knew Dad didn’t want another another animal but Mom and us kids did. I remember Dad saying something no more animals in the house until pigs fly or something like that. Dad liked animals just didn’t always want them in his house. Back to my story though, Mom started looking in the paper and eventually found Alaskan Malamutes. The Day came to go check out the Alaskan Malamutes so my youngest sister, Mom & Dad went to check them but they didn’t tell Dad where they were going. They were greeted by one of the Dogs the breeder owner. Bear was the Dog’s name and he was the Kal-Can Dog of the year at one time and he was a Champion Dog too. Finally they got to talk to the breeder and she finally agreed to to sell the runt of the litter a female Alaskan Malamute. We could take her that but had to agree to wait to get her spade/neutered in case she wanted to show her. Eventually she decided since she was the runt of the litter she wouldn’t make a good show. We disagreed but didn’t argue. Shandar was the best dispositioned female Alaskan Malamute, protective, playful Dog you could own. She was great with people too.
Adoption Story #3
The Cat in the above pictures is Tigger my Grey striped Tabby Cat. Tigger earned her wings and went to the Rainbow Bridge on 9-11-2015. It was a very sad day for me.
Long story short, Tigger was Rescued out of a home with lots of other animals too. The owner, a co-worker of mine was thrilled to find out I was looking for a Kitten. Tigger lived in a bad home and the stories told by her previous owner could have been considered and even called abusive. My family and I couldn’t take it anymore and we agreed to rescue Tigger. However, we thought we were getting a kitten and didn’t find out until the previous owner gave her to us that she was a senior Cat. At that point and time we didn’t care and we gave Tigger a furrever, loving home something she deserved to have. We miss her every day.
Adoption Story #4
Daisy Mae my current cat was adopted/rescued 15 years ago and 13 days. One night after Mom & Dad picked me up at work and brought me home, we could hear this sound that was very loud. I followed the loud noise with Mom & Dad following behind me. What we found was a kitten yowling at the top of her lungs for all she’s worth. We guestimated that she was around 4 weeks old give or take a few weeks. We fed her of course and gave her a warm bed to sleep which was in our garage. Even though Dad liked animals, he didn’t want another animal in the house. In fact he said, no more animals in the house “until Pigs fly”.
Pigs must of flown because out of the blue Dad finally decided to bring Daisy Mae inside with our Senior Cat Tigger. Although Tigger hissed some Daisy Mae didn’t hiss at all. Daisy Mae mellowed out Tigger and got Tigger to play more.
The day came that we were having my nephew Dylan’s 4th birthday and we decided to show the nieces and nephews the kitten we had found and so we took her to the garage. They loved her. We let them name the kitten. We wondered what crazy name they’d come with to name the kitten since they were young but they all decided on Daisy Mae.
Daisy Mae just turned 15 13 days ago and is still going strong. I love my Daisy Mae so, so very much.
The Cats in the drawing above are Tigger and Daisy Mae. Daisy Mae is on the Left and Tigger is on the Right.
I light my candle for all the Cats & Dogs who earned their wings and passed over the Rainbow Bridge, for those who got adopted/rescued and for those who need a furrever home. I love them all.
I’m joining Lola the Rescued Cat’s blog hop.

🎂🎂🎂🎂HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY
Hi everyone, Daisy Mae here. If you don’t know who I am (shame on you). No really, if you don’t know who I am let me introduce myself. I’m Crystal’s pet Cat and the other half of CRYSTAL AND DAISY MAE’S PHOTO-BLOGGING SITE. I help out when something happens that Crystal can’t post.
The reason why she isn’t hear is because well she’s had a rough few months. As the title states, Life hit her and her family hard then through her some curve balls to top it all off. I guess it all started way back in April a few days before April 22, 2021. The Dad had started hurting some and then Mom started getting body aches too. Neither one thought anything about it because Dad was out mowing and Crystal picking up sticks so they blamed it all on either a Sinus Cold, Allergies, pollen and bending to much and using muscles she hasn’t used in a year’s time in Crystal’s case (don’t ask). After almost a weeks time and the pain hadn’t left yet it was then Crystal started suspecting something was off and wrong. 2 days later, Crystal’s youngest sister popped in to check in on everyone and when she heard Dad’s symptom’s she said we’re going to get you tested for COVID and that’s when Crystal spoke up and said, I want tested too. So on April 22, 2021 the day the Dad and Crystal were to get their first vaccine shot well that didn’t happen instead they went to this place called Faster Care. After hearing their symptoms they tested them both and the Dad’s Rapid COVID test was negative but Crystal’s COVID test was positive. The strange part is The Dad’s COVID test that was sent out came back positive and Crystal’s came back positive. That evening The Dad was sent to the ER due to Covid then the Hospital people sent Dad home then the following Monday he went to hospital by ambulance then came home a few days later then on Memorial Day Dad went back to the hospital by ambulance once again. Mom Crystal has gone from being a part time caregiver to a full time caregiver who cooks(well bakes mostly), cleans and cares for her Mother who hasn’t been out of the house for quite some time because her Dermatomyositus and Lupus has made her immobile.
I suppose some bright spots in all this is that Crystal’s Dad is progressing very slowly each and that she has won one big contest and some small ones too. The big contest she won the prizes were a Kindle Fire With Aleza, $150 Amazon Gift Card and a few EBooks.
We want to give a huge thanks to Ellen and “Nurse” Joanie for the Card. The picture of “Nurse” Joanie made my Human Mom smile and she loved it. It lifted her spirits greatly(which she needed might I add). Thanks to all our readers.
Crystal hopes to be back soon but is not sure when but I will pop in to post every now and then.
I’ve added some Cat pictures for Feline Friday. ENJOY!!!!

Hi Everyone, due to Mom Crystal and the rest of her family caught the dreaded Covid Virus so she won’t be doing Friendly Fill – Ins this week but that’s Ok because I did them. Boy do I hope I get back to my normal real soon.
Hi Everyone, Daisy Mae Here, I have some exciting and thrilling news to share with you all. You see, I had this green pet carrier Mom Crystal used when I was a Kitten and I fit in it real good then I became a Senior Kitty almost a Cougar Kitty Cat. Well approximately a year or two years ago Mom Crystal and her Mom & Dad took me into the Vet for my routine check up no problem right? Well that’s a huge WRONG. You see here is my story in short. The Vet trip started in chaos like it always does because well I don’t like my pet carrier and don’t travel well. Mom Crystal sat in the backseat of the vehicle playing with me and trying to calm me down. Finally we got to the Vet building. Mom Crystal’s Mom stayed in the vehicle while Mom Crystal & her Dad went into the Vet building with me. Just as we turned the corner around the reception desk it happened, my pet carrier fell apart and the roof of it caved in on me and I was trapped even though I tried to get out but didn’t. Finally the nice Vet Tech people saw what happened to me and took us in right away. The vet Tech people even attempted to put my pet carrier back together but to no avail, they put the pet carrier back together backwards and when we got home the Dad took the pet carrier apart and put it together better and stronger. To Say the least, I am afraid to get in my pet carrier now.
Since Mom Crystal has had a blog since 2017, she’s been looking for a new pet carrier online for me. Then just last year on Sweet Purrfections Blog which is a great blog by the way, Mom Crystal got a post from Sweet Purrfections since she follows them and I’m glad she does. Anyhoo, they had this post and did a review on this 5 in 1 pet carrier. Then below the sponsor was giving away this pet carrier. Chances of winning were 50-50 lower for Mom Crystal since she’s not on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Tik Tok and etc…. But one of the chances were to comment and you had to them why you thought you should win the 5 in 1 pet carrier so Mom Crystal told them about my traumatic experience at the Vet. When she found out she had won she was excited, thrilled, shocked and happy for me all at the same time. Ever since this pandemic hit in 2020, I haven’t had a chance to use my new pet carrier yet.
