Eron Books 1 & 2: A Review

I won a contest by submitting a short story about my Cat Tigger. My prize was she was put in a scene in the book in chapter 7 of Choices. My name was even put in the acknowledgements of Choices: Book 2. Reading the scene in chapter 7 brought tears to my eyes but they were happy tears more or less.

COMPLEX: BOOK 1

Complex was an interesting, action packed unpredictable read. I loved this book and will read it again. I’m so glad I decided to get this book too. I highly recommend reading this book and the best thing is the book is written well clean. If I could rate this book more than 5 stars I would. It was that good.

CHOICES: BOOK 2

Choices is the book that my Tigger is in.  I really enjoyed reading this book too. Like Book 1, it’s  easy to read, action packed and it’s clean reading. I highly recommend reading this Book and like Book 1 if I could rate it more than 5 stars I would. I liked the book that much.

The Eron Outsiders Series by Rose Fresquez is an interracial book series and makes for interesting reading. While reading this book series, I noticed that both of the books brings so many messages that we all need to learn. What are the messages? Not going to mention all of them but Forgiveness, Kindness, Friendship and so much more. I look forward to the next book in the series.

A book series I love is a book series I will read again and this book series I will read again.

You can buy the book series by Rose Fresquez at Amazon by going to Eron Book Series: Kindle Edition @ Amazon . The buy link for the paperback version  can be viewed by going to Eron Outsiders Series: Paperback Version @Amazon .

THE HOUSE OF THE RED DUKE: A PHOENIX RISING – Book 1 By Vivienne Brereton

Welcome:

Welcome everyone to CRYSTAL AND DAISY MAE’S PHOTO-BLOGGING SITE. As you know, this site is just not about photos but more. I always enjoy it when my readers and new visitors visit my site.

Today, I would like to tell you about a book I read and give you my review of the book, My Book Rating and Why, My thoughts and so much more.

About The Book(Goodreads):

Thomas Howard Charismatic head of one of the most powerful Houses in Tudor England. An indomitable old man approaching eighty: soldier, courtier, politician, a ‘phoenix rising’ from the ashes. After a calamitous period of disgrace, the Howards, renowned for their good looks and charm, are once more riding high at the court of Henry VIII.

Set against the backdrop of the extraordinary 1520 ‘Field of Cloth of Gold’, it is a tale of ambition, love, and intrigue with Thomas at the centre of this intricate tapestry

Will Thomas’s bold vow be fulfilled? Danger stalks the corridors of the royal courts of Europe. Uneasy lies the head beneath a crown. Every other ruler – a fickle bedfellow…or sworn enemy.

The action takes place in England, Scotland, and France. On either side of the Narrow Sea, four young lives are interwoven, partly unaware of each other, and certainly oblivious to what Dame Fortune has in store for them.

“Nicolas de La Barre laid his lute to one side, hardly bothering to stifle a yawn of boredom. Nevertheless, he couldn’t escape the fact he’d agreed to take on a new wife…”

Explosive family secrets are concealed behind the ancient walls of castles in three lands. But… “There are no secrets that time does not reveal.”

About the Author(Goodreads):

Born near historic Winchester in the UK, I have been passionate about the Tudors for as long as I can remember. This led to a degree in Medieval History at university and the growing desire to write a novel. However, life took over somewhat  and only after stays, short and long, in six countries I called home did I finally settle down to finish my novel.

Words have always played an important part in my life, whether it’s been writing, editing, teaching English, or just picking up a good book. In preparation for my Tudor series, I did an enormous amount of research.

Having three sons came in very handy when I had to write about squabbles between Nicolas and Tristan in my novel. Not so handy when I took them to Hampton Court and one of them got lost in the maze! I also used the men in my life as guinea pigs for my Tudor Cookery attempts (recipes included) with varying degrees of protest.

Seeing ‘A Phoenix Rising’, the first book in the series ‘The House of the Red Duke’ in print for the first time was a moment of great joy for me. I hope anyone reading it will enjoy the end result as much as I enjoyed writing it.

My Book Rating:

📕📕📕📕📕 (5 books = 5 stars)

What I Thought Of The Book:

When I first started reading this book, it was like I read it before. The names were so familiar to me. So I looked in front of the book and read what it was all about then read the back of the book. It was well so weird and strange because I felt like I was reading about some of my ancestors in the book. I did find out it was set in the 16th century. Those of you who have just moaned or are thinking about it well… I had probably had similar thoughts. But I assure you, despite being set in the 16th century the book was written in English 99.9% of the time so you don’t have much 16th century talk to deal with. I loved the book and look forward to the next one. The title of Book 2 is: The House Of The Red Duke: The Lizard Lurking In The Grass. Best of all in the back of the book, there is a 16th century words and phrases from A – Z translated to the English words and phrases.

Recommendation:

I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed reading this book a lot I did not want to put the book down. I hope you buy, read it and review it. Look forward to see what you all think of this book.

The Complete Virtue and Valor Series

I just finished several books but one book that really stood out in my opinion was the paperback version of The Complete Virtue and Valor Series by Hallee Bridgeman. *Please Note* I won this book in a random survey drawing from the author’s newsletter and this review is of my honest opinions.

Before I get to my rating of the book, you must understand how I rate books. I don’t just read a book but I study, analyze, ask myself is this a fun book to read or serious book. Does it live up to the kind of book it’s suppose to be? Could it happen in today’s world? Does it have vulgar language, is it to graphic, what type of audience can read it? There are more questions I ask myself too. Now you know how I go about rating a book. Does my rating on a book ever change? Sometimes but not very often.

My rating for The Complete Virtue and Valor Series book is 5+ stars. It’s an excellent book. It’s 8 books in 1. Very well done

Goodreads Excerpt

Eight serialized novellas, each inspired by real people and actual events, reveal the incredible story of amazing heroes and heroines facing the ultimate of bravery. In 1941 Great Britain a special war department assembles an experimental and exclusively female cohort and combat operatives consisting of four willing spies, a wireless radio operator, an ingenious code… To read more of the excerpt in depth go to The Complete Virtue and Valor Series Goodreads Link . Hallee Bridgeman did a fantastic job on writing these novellas based on real life events and real people.

I hope enjoy this book review. I also hope you read this book because I recommend it very highly.

**Full Disclosure** I won this book in a random survey drawing. This is a prize I’ll cherish forever.

Hot Cocoa Poke Cake

I follow this author, Cambria Hebert and they put in yummy recipes in their newsletter. Sometimes healthy sometimes  not but either way they look yummy. This weeks recipe is a Dessert called Hot Cocoa Poke Cake and the recipe is from Cambria Hebert of Cambria Hebert Books. Recipe is below.

Ingredients

1 box of chocolate cake mix (you can use gluten free).

2 cups of marshmallow cream.

2 TBSP of water.

2 cups of heavy whipping cream.

3 packets of hot cocoa mix.

marshmallows for topping.

chocolate chips for topping.

hard shell ice cream topping or chocolate syrup.

Directions

Make cake according to box directions, baking in a 9 x 13 glass baking dish. When cake comes out of the oven cool for a few minutes, then poke holes in the cake with a wooden spoon (or anything that will make large holes).

Place 2 cups of marshmallow cream into a microwave safe bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of water. Microwave the marshmallow cream and water for about 20 seconds. Stir it together and then pour the cream over the top of the cake, making sure the cream fills the holes. Set cake aside.

With a mixer, place 2 cups of heavy cream into a bowl (make sure its large enough to whip the cream). Add in 3 packets of hot cocoa mix (you can use the kind with or without the mini marshmallows, it doesn’t matter).

Whip the cream and cocoa mix until the cream forms stiff peaks.

Spread the whipped cream over the cake, covering the top.

Sprinkle the top with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips and drizzle and drizzle with the hard shell ice cream topping.

Refrigerate cake – eat and joy!

A HILLCREST WITCH MYSTERY: ARC REVIEWS

Amorette Anderson is one of my new favorite authors. She writes books in the genres categorized in Cozy Mysteries, Romantic Comedy and Romantic Suspense by Bookbub and on Goodreads they have her genres listed as Mystery, Fiction and Romance. Pretty much the same on both sites. Her books are fun and easy to read. Amorette’s picture is above. She is on BookBub and her BookBub link is Amorette Anderson’s BookBub Profile Link in case you want to check her BookBub Profile and possibly even follow her. She is also on Goodreads and her Goodreads Link is Amorette Anderson’s Goodreads Profile Link in case you want to check her profile out and follow her. The Order of the books Are as follows with the Prequel first.

THE PREQUEL

The Prequel, the CASE OF THE LOVE SPELL is an incredible, fun, mysterious fictional book that Penny has to try solve a murder. Will she be able to solve the murder? Then of course Penny is thinking about her crush. I just loved reading this book. Not only was it fun but there is clean romance, mysteries solve. This book is a “page turner”. For those of you who don’t know what I mean by a “page turner” it just means that the book is so good you don’t want to put the book down. The books could be read however you prefer but in my opinion, the books should be read in order starting with the Prequel. I hope you read it, I hope your kids and grandkids read it. I loved it and know you will too.

BOOK 1

power spell

Book 1, the CASE OF THE POWER SPELL is a book full of clean romance, mysterious, fun and fiction. This book is also a “page turner”. I loved this book and know you will too. I really hope you, your kids and grandkids read this. I loved this book so much.

BOOK 2

banishing spell.jpg

Book 2, the CASE OF THE BANISHING SPELL is a fun, romantic, mysterious, fictional book and the best part is that its clean. When I say clean I mean it. This book was a “page turner” and kept me wanting more. I hope you read it, your kids read it and your grandkids read it. I loved it and know you will too.

BOOK 3

desire spell

Book 3, the CASE OF THE DESIRE SPELL was so much fun to read. Maybe it’s because I really liked Penny and her cat Turkey. This book was not only fun but it was romantic in a clean way, mysterious, family oriented. I can’t tell you how much I loved this book. I really hope you read this book, your kids read it and grandkids read it.

BOOK 4

trust spell

Book 4, the CASE OF THE TRUST SPELL is a fun, romantic, mysterious , clean and is the last book until Book 5 comes. There will be a Book 5 but it’s coming soon and isn’t published yet. I just loved this book as much as I loved the other books and that’s a lot. I hope you read this, your kids read this and your grandkids read this. I loved it and just know you will too.

BOOK 5

Book 5, the CASE OF THE VISION SPELL which is coming soon I might add and knowing how Amorette Anderson’s books were, I expect Book 5 will be just as good. Since it’s not out there is no cover picture.

SUMMARY

I’m sure by now you’ve noticed I didn’t say much about these books. There’s a reason for that and that is some books don’t need much said about them because they’re that good. Well let me tell that’s exactly the way these books are. Also, In this case too much said might give too much away and I don’t want to do that. In summary let’s review Amorette  Anderson’s books are a lot of fun, family oriented, clean, mysterious, romantic(in a clean sense), easy to read and the books are “page turners”.

RECOMMENDATION & RATINGS

My recommendation for all of Amorette Anderson’s books are that I suggest to all of you is that you need to read her books. I highly recommend them because you won’t be ashamed to read it nor will you be ashamed to have your kids and grandkids read it and before you know it you’ll be recommending to your friends and neighbors. Also, who knows you’ll have yourself another favorite author.

My rating for all of Amorette Anderson’s books are 5+ stars.

FOR PARENTS

If for any reason you’re not sure about these books or any books for that matter, for your own peace of mind read the books first. Now if you look at the cover and judge it from that and say you don’t like the cover because there is a witch on the cover. That’s your opinion and your allowed your opinion. Also you don’t want your kid or grandkid(s) reading about sorcery or wizardry well let me assure you that Penny is a good witch and Penny is more into knitting than sorcery or Wizardry. But staying on this subject of wizardry or sorcery, brings me to ask you the parent or grandparent this question. The question I must ask has your kid(s) or grandkid(s) read the Harry Potter books? If so then let me kindly tell you something and that’s that Harry Potter books are more into wizardry and sorcery than these books are. If you have questions then be a parent or grandparent and please read the book first.

E-Book Review: The Sacrifice

Title: The Sacrifice

Author: Indra Garai

Genre(s): Fiction

Rating: 5🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄= 5 stars

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Indrajit Garai, an American citizen now, was born in India in 1965. After his Bachelor degree from Indian Institute of Technology and Masters from Harvard, he worked as a Corporate Strategy Consultant and as an Investment Banker in America, Spain, and England, while studying parallelly Ayurveda (ancient medicine of India) and clinical yoga, for stress management. In 2001, after the birth of his daughter, he moved to Paris and opened his private practice of stress management.

Currently, he has taken sabbatical from his practice of stress management, as a full-time writer, to work on his fictions and non-fictions.

ABOUT THE BOOK

This book is a work of Fiction. In a nutshell without revealing too much about the book it’s about people, the way they treat each other, the way animals are treated(not by everyone), the way trees and forests are treated, what people will do just to get their way and what happens when you treat other people and animals the right way and not the cruel way.

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THE BOOK

First let me say when I started reading the book, I soon found out that it wasn’t about what I thought it was going to be centered around. I like some twists and turns and surprises in my books because to me that’s what makes a book interesting. I also found that there was no bad language or sex. Another good mark from me. Just proves you can have good books without all the sex and bad language.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE

The only thing I can think of is how graphic he made it of what happened to the birdies. Let me explain this. This was to make a point in the book in my opinion. What I mean when I say graphic is the words used. No swear words but I feel he could have chosen his words better. He people treat animals right and not be cruel to them.

HOW I JUDGE A BOOK’S RATING

It’s pretty simple actually, you see my judgement rating for a book is based on many things. Below is how I rate the books and why in stars.

1.) The book is boring, no plot or the same plot keeps occurring over and over, Has swear words or too much sex, I can read only a few pages before putting it down or I just can’t finish it that in my opinion = 1 star.

2.) The book has an OK plot, I can finish book, it has swear words and sex, but not as boring and I don’t fall asleep that = 2 stars.

3.) The plot is average, I can finish the book, has swear words and sex but still not a page turner but a little interesting that = 3 stars.

4.) Plot is better than average, it’s interesting but not quite a page turner, I can finish the book, It has swear words, some sex but not much and not graphic that = 4 stars.

5.) Excellent plot, No swear words, it’s a “page turner”, I want to read the book again or even buy the print version, the book has twists, turns and surprises, straight forward plots(not all the time), I don’t want to put the book down and I’m not ashamed to recommend to my nieces or nephew or anyone else that = 5 stars or above. **Please Note** If a book has bad language but isn’t used a lot through the book I have been known to give five stars especially if I really liked the book and read it twice. I’ve found once that I remember.

RECOMMENDATION

I recommend the book The Sacrifice to anyone who can read. However, the younger crowd also known as the preteens and younger should have a parent or guardian in case they need them to explain things to them.

Who Can Read This Book: Everyone

WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION

Welcome Everyone to our site. We really appreciate those who have been reading and following us for a while now. We also want to welcome the new readers and followers and we appreciate you too. If it weren’t for you all we wouldn’t be where we are today. Now on to the book, when I read a book I usually can tell if I’m going to like the book or not and how I’m going to rate it half way through the first chapter. Sometimes it takes longer. For example, if I absolute don’t like it in the first chapter, I’ll give it  to chapter 3 or 4 usually and decide whether to go on reading the book or make it a DNF(Did Not Finish). Sometimes the book just doesn’t live up to hype even if it had a movie made out of it.

WHAT I EXPECTED

I follow this authors blog so I had an idea what to expect. Since her blog is so great and writing style very good, I set the bar quite high for this book PRANCIE’S PRAYER. I guess knowing what I did I expected a very good book and at least a 5 star rating if not higher. Well guess what? I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, It was better than I expected. I must say that doesn’t happen often with books with me.

WHAT I LIKED

Well what can I say. I liked everything about this book. The way the book was layed out from beginning to end, How the story was told, Most of all I liked it because there was no bad language.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE

Noop. Can’t think of anything although maybe just a suggestion. This isn’t a complaint, I loved the book but thought it could have been longer. However, the way this story was told and layed out the length was perfect. I hope I get to read the print version some day.

RECOMMENDATION & RATING

I recommend everyone buy, read and review this book. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I know I wasn’t. This book is made so kids can read it too. I give the book PRANCIE’S PRAYER 12 STARS.  OK, I know you can go up to 5 stars but really this book deserves 12 stars it’s that good.

Please buy this book. WHY? Because from October to December all the royalties are going to a charity called Boston’s Forgotten Feline’s. It’s a win-win situation you buy the book the charity gets the royalties and you get a Fantastic book by a fantastic author.

WHAT BOOK ARE YOU IMPATIENTLY WAITING FOR?

The book I’m impatiently waiting for is probably the hush, hush saga boxed set and hush, hush, hush saga paperback by Becca Fitzpatrick. I hope to add these books to my library soon. If you remember, I just recently discovered her books. There are many others but her books are page turners.

A Recent Discovery

Thanks to my youngest niece who let me borrow some books to read I discovered new authors. I even recently discovered a new author. Who is this wonderful author I want to add to my list of favorite authors? Her name is Becca Fitzpatrick. She is the author of many books. They can be found on Amazon. I suggest you check them out. To do just that go to the link Becca Fitzpatrick Books On Amazon

My new book discovery by Becca Fitzpatrick is her book Black Ice(Hardback Edition). I loved this book. I loved this book so much I didn’t want to put the book down. Depending on the length of a print book I’m usually done with a book within a week. With this book, I was done within 3 days.

I don’t have any of her books in my library yet but plan on getting them. Black Ice is on my add to my library list. Guess what. Something to ask for at Christmas time I guess.

In conclusion, Rebecca Fitzpatrick isn’t the only recent author I discovered but I have discovered other authors too. I’m always open to reading new authors so if you’re an author good luck too you and I hope I find your books someday. Some other authors I discovered are: Ariella Cohen,  June Foster and many others. I find many of my authors through Amazon, Goodreads and websites. I’m not an author just a woman who likes to read and review books.
