Reflections: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Reflecting on last year made me really think about the last year and few months & how it was good, bad and yes even ugly. Let’s start with the Good.

The Good

Everything up to April 222021 with live giving us a few minor ups and downs but nothing major just colds, allergies. I even helped my parents around the house inside and out. Dad and I once a week would go for groceries. We always had fun and we brought Dinner home that’s Lunch to you city folk. I enjoyed walking and talking to the neighbors a few times a week, meeting new neighbors and their pets usually a Dog. Things were just as normal as they could be during COVID 19 times. I was just thrilled my family and I were fortunate enough not to catch the nasty virus going around called COVID 19. Then it happened really happened. Really happened. The Bad finally caught up with us and more about that  below.

The Bad

As said before, the bad finally caught up with us and boy did it ever. So what do I mean by that phrase? Let me explain. After Dad and I developed symptoms of COVID 19 that could be explained away as a cold, pulled muscles and allergies so neither one of us thought anything of it then my youngest sister stopped by to check on Mom and Dad and to see if they needed anything we didn’t. However my sister said to my Dad that he didn’t look to good and that she thought he needed to be tested for COVID 19 and after she said that, I said in that case I want to be tested for COVID 19 too. On April 22, 2021 a couple days later and the same day we were supposed to get our first COVID 19 shot but instead we ended up being tested for COVID 19 and guess what? We both were positive for COVID 19. Not a good day. Next then I know a few days later, I noticed Mom having symptoms of COVID 19. Now she was never tested but we suspect she had it since she was in a house with 2 people who were COVID po19 positive. My other younger sister came down for a week to help take care of Mom and Dad. When my sister left at the end of the end of the week, she decided to get tested for COVID 19and sure enough she was COVID 19 positive. You know how it goes, your taught to share, share alike and that’s what Dad and I did, we shared COVID 19 with the family.

From April 222021, my Dad was in and out of the hospital about 4 times if not more plus he had to relearn how to walk. Dad’s getting stronger each day and he has learned how to walk again. Also, on April 22, 2021, I was thrown into being a full time caregiver for both of my parents too.

So after all this, you probably think if that’s the Bad then what’s the ugly? Shall we go onto the Ugly? Check that out below.

The Ugly

On December 132021I finally got my second COVID 19 shot. No big deal right? Wrong. You may remember seeing on the news and hearing that there are people who have reactions to the second shot or even the first COVID 19 shot for that matter. Also, it is said by doctors that you may get sick or symptomatic after your second shot but the symptoms are usually mild. Well after my second COVID 19 shot, sure enough didn’t I get sick and became symptomatic on December 13,2021. For 2 months I kept thinking whatever I had was finally going to go bye byes—it didn’t and so I finally decided to go to my new Doctor. He gave me a 5 day antibiotic and some nasal spray but neither worked. Fast forward to March 29, 2022 and low and behold I’m still sick with whatever it is I have. So this why I haven’t been posting as much.

look forward to getting better from whatever it is I have.

What I Thought About The Book?:

I really thought the book was an enjoyable read, intriguing, interesting, I was kept engaged from beginning to end of the book especially when the trouble started. Also, I found that this book had wonderful characters and even found a few teachable moments that we could all learn from. For example those teachable were: When a secret is hidden from others that is in our past, that secret most likely will come out eventually and usually at the most inopportune times. What will our secret cost us and others around us? Will it divide the family, our friends, the town/village and surrounding areas.

My Rating Of The Book, How I Rate And My Reason For The Rating:

First my rating for the book is 📚📚📚📚📚(5 books/5 stars).

How I Rate is actually pretty simple. My rating system is below. Starts at 5 stars.

stars Book is well written, clean (no use of swear words), wonderful characters, has action and the author kept me engaged from beginning to end. A definite must read and comes highly recommended.

stars Has some swear words usually no F-words. I may or may not recommend book. If book has swear words but only a couple uses of F-words I may bump rating to 5 stars but that depends on what I think of book and how well it was written.

stars The book was OK but had to many swear words and F-words that I couldn’t finish the book. Not worth my time to try to read again.

and stars = Not worth reading, recommending although I do let everyone decide for themselves. Also, I don’t usually review books that are 3 stars or below.

3 stars = The book is OK but has swear words, use of F-word, graphic sex and in my opinion not worth reading.

4- 4 1/2 stars = The book is better than 3 stars and has a good story and plot and should read the book just to decide for yourself.

5 stars or more = The book is a must read, is clean, easy to read and worth reading.

My Recommendation & Will I Read Again?:

I highly recommend the book All That Is Hidden by Laura DeNooyer-Moore.

Will I read the book again? Absolutely. I loved the book.
