What is Remember Me Thursday? Remember Me Thursday is a special day when we remember all the pets we’ve adopted and saved. Each pet that was either rescued/adopted is very unique in their own special way.
I’ve no my family and I have adopted/rescued all our pets that we’ve had. OK, I’ve had 2 dogs that were pure bread and from breeders but I consider them adopted/rescued too because in my mind, we rescued/adopted them from the breeders. No more breeding—Yeah!!
I would like to share some Rescue/Adoption stories with you. Stories are below.
Adoption Story #1: Snowball
Snowball our white cat was rescued/adopted from a life of being a stray cat and going house to house trying to find food to eat. She also dealt with cruel neighbors. Finally, she found our front porch. One beautiful sunny Afternoon while Dad was laying on the glider taking a nap. Snowball knew she had to convince Dad to take her in the house so she jumped up on the glider with Dad and cuddled up to him and took a nap with him. When Dad realized this, he agreed to take her in and we named her Snowball. Snowball got her furrever home.
Adoption Story #2

Shandar is the Dog we had before we rescued/adopted her from the breeder.
As kids, we wanted a Dog. We knew Dad didn’t want another another animal but Mom and us kids did. I remember Dad saying something no more animals in the house until pigs fly or something like that. Dad liked animals just didn’t always want them in his house. Back to my story though, Mom started looking in the paper and eventually found Alaskan Malamutes. The Day came to go check out the Alaskan Malamutes so my youngest sister, Mom & Dad went to check them but they didn’t tell Dad where they were going. They were greeted by one of the Dogs the breeder owner. Bear was the Dog’s name and he was the Kal-Can Dog of the year at one time and he was a Champion Dog too. Finally they got to talk to the breeder and she finally agreed to to sell the runt of the litter a female Alaskan Malamute. We could take her that but had to agree to wait to get her spade/neutered in case she wanted to show her. Eventually she decided since she was the runt of the litter she wouldn’t make a good show. We disagreed but didn’t argue. Shandar was the best dispositioned female Alaskan Malamute, protective, playful Dog you could own. She was great with people too.
Adoption Story #3
The Cat in the above pictures is Tigger my Grey striped Tabby Cat. Tigger earned her wings and went to the Rainbow Bridge on 9-11-2015. It was a very sad day for me.
Long story short, Tigger was Rescued out of a home with lots of other animals too. The owner, a co-worker of mine was thrilled to find out I was looking for a Kitten. Tigger lived in a bad home and the stories told by her previous owner could have been considered and even called abusive. My family and I couldn’t take it anymore and we agreed to rescue Tigger. However, we thought we were getting a kitten and didn’t find out until the previous owner gave her to us that she was a senior Cat. At that point and time we didn’t care and we gave Tigger a furrever, loving home something she deserved to have. We miss her every day.
Adoption Story #4
Daisy Mae my current cat was adopted/rescued 15 years ago and 13 days. One night after Mom & Dad picked me up at work and brought me home, we could hear this sound that was very loud. I followed the loud noise with Mom & Dad following behind me. What we found was a kitten yowling at the top of her lungs for all she’s worth. We guestimated that she was around 4 weeks old give or take a few weeks. We fed her of course and gave her a warm bed to sleep which was in our garage. Even though Dad liked animals, he didn’t want another animal in the house. In fact he said, no more animals in the house “until Pigs fly”.
Pigs must of flown because out of the blue Dad finally decided to bring Daisy Mae inside with our Senior Cat Tigger. Although Tigger hissed some Daisy Mae didn’t hiss at all. Daisy Mae mellowed out Tigger and got Tigger to play more.
The day came that we were having my nephew Dylan’s 4th birthday and we decided to show the nieces and nephews the kitten we had found and so we took her to the garage. They loved her. We let them name the kitten. We wondered what crazy name they’d come with to name the kitten since they were young but they all decided on Daisy Mae.
Daisy Mae just turned 15 13 days ago and is still going strong. I love my Daisy Mae so, so very much.

The Cats in the drawing above are Tigger and Daisy Mae. Daisy Mae is on the Left and Tigger is on the Right.
I light my candle for all the Cats & Dogs who earned their wings and passed over the Rainbow Bridge, for those who got adopted/rescued and for those who need a furrever home. I love them all.

Yes Tigger went from a bad kittyhood to a furrever loving family(us). Yes, and even though she ended up being a Senior kitten she deserved a furrever loving home too so we gave it to her.
