Sabi Saturday

Hello and welcome everyone to CRYSTAL AND DAISY MAE’S PHOTO-BLOGGING SITE. Daisy Mae And I are happy you are here. For those of you who don’t know what Sabi Saturday (and yes we know it’s Sunday) is here is a brief explanation that might help you. It is:

  • the vintage/antique item(s) handed down or we “rescue” from garage sales and thrift stores so they don’t end up in the trash bin.

  • items we’ve upcycled instead of throwing them away.

  • items we’ve repaired in a transformative way to make them more beautiful or cooler than before.

  • the main idea is showing how we treasure or reuse or creatively transform things that have some history to them, may be a bit worn but nevertheless are still useful/beautiful and often have character.

Now that you know what Sabi Saturday is Daisy Mae And I hope you will visit Cactus Catz for the Sabi Saturday blog hop and for more information. It’s not only fun but it might just get you more traffic on your blog. We look forward to seeing what you have in store for us. If you can’t make it on Saturdays no worries Sabi Saturday blog hop usually lasts about 5 days. For more info go to the link above and ask them.

Daisy Mae And I have for our Sabi Saturday this week an old jewelry box that the artwork on it looks well… Japanese. I know I know you’re probably thinking a jewelry box is a jewelry but in this case you would be wrong.

Sadly I don’t know much about the history of this old jewelry box because I wasn’t thought of yet. When one of my relatives(I think his name was “Uncle Ted) who was in the war(not sure which one) came home to see my Aunt Kay Dee he brought this jewelry box back to give her as a gift. She of course was thrilled to see him but also thrilled with the jewelry box. Then when she passed away her family cleaned out her house. However and for some reason, there was not one person who wanted the jewelry box. In fact, her side of the family brought us this jewelry box as well as a lot of other items they did not want. When we went through the boxes of stuff they didn’t want it was hard to believe they passed this stuff up. We came to the jewelry box and Mom asked if I would be interested in taking it. I said yes I would take it. I took this jewelry box because I needed it but because it belonged to my Aunt Kay Dee for many years and yes it is beautiful. I have a passion for jewelry and jewelry boxes so it comes in handy. Yes, I use it to keep jewelry in too.

Below is a picture of the last picture I have of my Aunt Kay Dee who I inherited this old, beautiful jewelry box from and the picture of the Jewelry box.

  1. Things are always a bit chaotic here for me Crystal. Health issues abound. I sort one problem out & then either go into a flare-up or injure myself. It is sort of a rollercoaster ride…I wouldn’t know ‘normal’ if it jumped up & bit me in the face!
