Hello and welcome everyone to CRYSTAL AND DAISY MAE’S PHOTO-BLOGGING SITE. Daisy Mae And I are happy you are here. For those of you who don’t know what Sabi Saturday (and yes we know it’s Sunday) is here is a brief explanation that might help you. It is:
the vintage/antique item(s) handed down or we “rescue” from garage sales and thrift stores so they don’t end up in the trash bin.
items we’ve upcycled instead of throwing them away.
items we’ve repaired in a transformative way to make them more beautiful or cooler than before.
the main idea is showing how we treasure or reuse or creatively transform things that have some history to them, may be a bit worn but nevertheless are still useful/beautiful and often have character.
Now that you know what Sabi Saturday is Daisy Mae And I hope you will visit Cactus Catz for the Sabi Saturday blog hop and for more information. It’s not only fun but it might just get you more traffic on your blog. We look forward to seeing what you have in store for us. If you can’t make it on Saturdays no worries Sabi Saturday blog hop usually lasts about 5 days. For more info go to the link above and ask them.
Daisy Mae And I have for our Sabi Saturday this week an old jewelry box that the artwork on it looks well… Japanese. I know I know you’re probably thinking a jewelry box is a jewelry but in this case you would be wrong.
Sadly I don’t know much about the history of this old jewelry box because I wasn’t thought of yet. When one of my relatives(I think his name was “Uncle Ted) who was in the war(not sure which one) came home to see my Aunt Kay Dee he brought this jewelry box back to give her as a gift. She of course was thrilled to see him but also thrilled with the jewelry box. Then when she passed away her family cleaned out her house. However and for some reason, there was not one person who wanted the jewelry box. In fact, her side of the family brought us this jewelry box as well as a lot of other items they did not want. When we went through the boxes of stuff they didn’t want it was hard to believe they passed this stuff up. We came to the jewelry box and Mom asked if I would be interested in taking it. I said yes I would take it. I took this jewelry box because I needed it but because it belonged to my Aunt Kay Dee for many years and yes it is beautiful. I have a passion for jewelry and jewelry boxes so it comes in handy. Yes, I use it to keep jewelry in too.
Below is a picture of the last picture I have of my Aunt Kay Dee who I inherited this old, beautiful jewelry box from and the picture of the Jewelry box.
MAXI, you were looking for a furrever home… One that would love you forever no matter what.
Then one day a miracle happened. A wonderful, loving family who had just decided they wanted a pet and wanted it to be a small dog walked in just too look.
When you noticed they were looking your way, you tried to be as cute and beautiful as you could. You even showed off by showing this family how cute you really were.
You have brown eyes like that of a beautiful brown Butterfly. Your nose is pink with black speckles on it. You were a small white Bichon Frise dog who looked like a medium sized snowball.
Because this wonderful family decided to get a dog, you now have a wonderful and loving furrever home. Although you didn’t have a favorite football team when they got you, you somehow became an Eagles Fan.
You ended up being a Mama’s Boy and really enjoyed being with her, cuddling with her and laying in those sunpuddles. You also loved cuddling with your “sister” on a Penguin blanket, chasing the Squirrels and Chipmunks, Posing for pictures but most of all you really liked and enjoyed being with your family. You also hated going out into the snow where it was really cold.
Before earning your your wings to go over the Rainbow Bridge after almost 13 years you had so much fun with your furrever family you didn’t want to say goodbye so instead you decided to say farewell. Although your family will mourn your passing and grieve in their own way, they will always have the memories that they will cherish and they will never forget you.
Now that it’s Springtime Butterflies, Cocooned Caterpillars turning into beautiful Butterflies, Cardinals, Baby Cardinals, Squirrels, Baby Squirrels, Deer and Fawns are so cute and fun to watch. Don’t chase or hurt these animals for they are your friends. Well you see Angel MAXI sometimes visits in the form of these animals. Most of the time he will visit in the form of a Butterfly or Cardinal but When a baby animal is born, When you see a Butterfly, When you see a Cardinal or any type of other animal, always remember Angel MAXI is watching and taking care of you.
I have a special Eileen’s Critters And Sunday Selfie this week. On June 10, 2019 we got a picture of the our first Fawn of the 2019 season. Sorry if the picture is dark but Mamma Deer isn’t brave enough yet apparently to bring her baby out in daylight. I had to share this with you.
After a drink I think Mamma Deer is going to show her baby the ropes on how to go about posing for Sunday Selfies. For the first time I think this little Fawn did pretty good. Honestly, I think the Fawn is more interested in getting a drink. Mamma Deer is multitasking. She’s eating and posing for her Sunday Selfie and for Eileen Critters.
For Sabi Saturday I have decided to multiple old things since I got somehow so many old things in this picture. However, the main old thing I wanted to do was one of my cats and her name was Snowball. She’s an Angel now. In the picture like I said there are are many old things. In the picture below you’ll see on my bed Angel Snowball. You’ll also see some other old things as well. You’ll see a stuffed cat which I appropriately named “SnowPuff” on the bed with Snowball also on the bed that’s old is a bedspread Pillow and stuffed teddy bear which I named “Teddy”. Also you’ll see some other old things like my cat box, pink curtains, the white shelves, yellow doll on the shelf, Santa container, books and picture album. Picture below.
I follow this author, Cambria Hebert and they put in yummy recipes in their newsletter. Sometimes healthy sometimes not but either way they look yummy. This weeks recipe is a Dessert called Hot Cocoa Poke Cake and the recipe is from Cambria Hebert of Cambria Hebert Books. Recipe is below.
1 box of chocolate cake mix (you can use gluten free).
2 cups of marshmallow cream.
2 TBSP of water.
2 cups of heavy whipping cream.
3 packets of hot cocoa mix.
marshmallows for topping.
chocolate chips for topping.
hard shell ice cream topping or chocolate syrup.
Make cake according to box directions, baking in a 9 x 13 glass baking dish. When cake comes out of the oven cool for a few minutes, then poke holes in the cake with a wooden spoon (or anything that will make large holes).
Place 2 cups of marshmallow cream into a microwave safe bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of water. Microwave the marshmallow cream and water for about 20 seconds. Stir it together and then pour the cream over the top of the cake, making sure the cream fills the holes. Set cake aside.
With a mixer, place 2 cups of heavy cream into a bowl (make sure its large enough to whip the cream). Add in 3 packets of hot cocoa mix (you can use the kind with or without the mini marshmallows, it doesn’t matter).
Whip the cream and cocoa mix until the cream forms stiff peaks.
Spread the whipped cream over the cake, covering the top.
Sprinkle the top with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips and drizzle and drizzle with the hard shell ice cream topping.
These pictures are from 2018 and yes we still get Turkey and deer every-now-and then. We have a trail camera and it is so much fun what it catches. I thought I would share some of my photos with you that God blesses with.
Today Daisy Mae and I are putting our blog hops together in one post. We invite you to join us and everyone else in doing these blog hops. 1.) A past event that I would like to see in person is Jesus performing all his miracles. I think it would be interesting. A couple other events I would like to see is what I would like to see and ranks right up there is I would like to see Jesus being born that night in Bethlehem and be there with his disciples to see him ascend into Heaven the first time.
2.) If I were a dog, my breed would be Alaskan Malamute(Female). This breed has a great disposition. I had one once as a kid and just loved her. I love all dogs though. Although Daisy Mae says she wouldn’t want to be a dog.
3.) If I came with a warning label, it would say the following: Loud but caring and compassionate almost to a fault. Good listener. Loves most animals but despises Snakes. Also, doesn’t like rodents, insects, Spiders and etc… Daisy Mae says her warning label would say comes with a lot of cuteness, adorableness and hates to be picked up. Loves being loved.
4.) I would want to take a boat, my parents, my computer, computer charger and of course my cat Daisy Mae with me to a deserted island.
I have something special and well sentimental at least to me and yes it’s old and could be an antique. You see when I was a kid well ?? years ago, my parents and my sisters and I found this bell. Well dad put it up and that was when he saw it, the bell had a name on it. However it was just not any name it had my name on it. Crystal. So from then on, I adopted the bell as my own. It is still standing near my back deck of the house. Below is a picture of it. It’s so old now you can barely see the name but it’s still there.

My Pet Parade is literally of different kinds of pets. I have put all the pets in a framed collage below.
From left to right in the top row is: Daisy Mae playing with her new toy, Next up is Angel Tigger on my bed with with a stuffed white cat and stuffed white polar bear, Next up is Daisy Mae all curled up on her throne by a cat pillow that looks very much like Angel Tigger(pillow was given to us by my sister after Tigger died), Now we end the top row with a Swan. The Swan was at a place where my sister and brother-in-law went for a weekend getaway.
The middle picture in the collage is of my niece Alyssa who is holding their cat Rascal, The black dog which is a Great Dane/Chocolate Lab Mix is named Rolex and the other dog on the couch is named Josie. I think Josie is an Australian Shepard and something else. I’m sure it’s listed on her papers. Isn’t that a couch full?
In the third and final row from Left to Right is: Josie and Rolex, Next up is my other sister’s dog which is a Bichon Frise named Maxi, Next up is Josie and finally up is Rolex. Enjoy the Pet Parade.
