A Special Awww…Monday & Sparks

Since on Saturday, October 27, 2018 a horrible tragedy happened in the Jewish community in Pittsburgh, PA where a guy who wanted to kill as many Jews as he could only killed 11. That’s 11 to many in my book. I’m sure you have heard about this tragedy by now even if you don’t have a tv, computer or smart phone.

For those of you not familiar where Pittsburgh, PA is let me see if I can help. It’s a city full of people who are sports oriented and willing to help each other in times of trouble and tragedy. I don’t like to go to this mostly because it’s hard to navigate due to construction going on all the time it seems. Pittsburgh is probably 2 to 3 hours away from where I live or about 50 to 60 miles away from where I live.

  1. I am Jewish…can trace my family back to 1392 on Father’s side. My Mother’s side til 1700’s. I am horrified about the Pittsburgh Massacre…..
I can’t wrap my head around it….I’ve NEVER udnerstaood why others hate Jewish people….we are just people…..
And I will say a few of my non-Jewish friends DID change their profile photo to stand with myself & my Jewish friends.
I am proud to be Jewish even tho I’m not a traditional Jew! And if someone hates me for loving Adonai G-D they need to think about that….
    Sincerely, Sherri-Ellen

    1. I never understood either. When I started worked I met a woman who I soon learned was Jewish. I tried helping her one day and that’s when I learned her beliefs. I respect people’s beliefs. We became friends and she taught me bits and pieces of the Jewish Religion. Since the store closed I don’t see or speak to her as much but plan on emailing her about this tragedy. Prayers

  2. thank you for blogging about this. I lived in Pittsburgh from age 2 til age 7. I lived maybe 20 minutes away from Squirrel Hill. The tragedy is the largest massacre of Jews in U.S. history. What is upsetting me so much is people changed their profile photos on Facebook for nearly all of the other horrific tragedies that have taken place in the last few years but it seems the only ones who have changed their profile photos for this tragedy are Jews. Sometimes silence speaks volumes. (((hugs)))
