Thanks to Crystal for inviting me to do this guest blog. I started the Feline Cafe blog 8 years ago on Blogger when my wife was home dying of cancer and I was caring for her 24 / 7. I had six cats at the time. For a little diversion I began to try making a blog. My wife died shortly after I started in 2010. The six cats kept me busy. They didn’t care if I was depressed or not. Their needs had to be met! At first I blogged cats and other topics; then I blogged just cat subjects; and finally I changed to a “photographic” cat blog which is where we are at today. Three of the original six cats are still on the blog. They are Opie and Zeke– 8 year old Maine Coons; and Marigold a creamy orange long haired cat age 15. A fourth cat named Scooby age 8, a big red tabby who arrived in 2015, was adopted out of a shelter by me.
Many years back I built a “cat run” which was the name given a “catio” before the word was coined. I liked to take photos of the cats outside in it and posted many them; and today I have a number of such photos here. In the past sometimes I let the cats out in the backyard and stayed with them trying to “herd” them, but it could be nerve racking trying to keep them from going where they shouldn’t like up a tree! Especially hard if one cut to the right and one cut to the left! I don’t let them walk free outside any more. Scooby was leash-trained by a former owner, I discovered, so he can go on walks on the leash.
I try to keep the posts light hearted. That’s about it really. Below are a few sample photos I like:
Cat Post Pictures are by Feline Café and Featured Post is by CRYSTAL AND DAISY MAE’S PHOTO-BLOGGING SITE.

I love the snow-covered catio shot! Interesting how one’s blog evolves. Mine definitely has, too, just in the 2.5 years I’ve been blogging.

Blogs always seem to improve over time, probably due to experience gained. Thanks Alley for the comment!

I love the tree-climbing photo. I hadn’t seen that one before. I never realized that the grey and white striped fur is actually camouflage — looks like sun dappled branches

Hi Mary. Seems like every cat fur is camouflage if you have the proper background–even white! Thanks for stopping by.

That’s right…cats don’t care but they are feeling what his buddy needs. So they did all the best to keep you running 😉 …and they are giving love♥
It’s fantastic how you and they are living together and I just love the catio for them. Thanks for sharing so much.
Greetings over to your place and a big meow from Gismo

Cats do know when things are wrong and act accordingly. I just could not get rid of them all, as my wife would not have liked that decision I am sure of. 6 inside cats is a lot of cats to take care of by one person. I built the catio at least 5 years before I blogged. Hi Gismo! Have a good week what is left of it Nova!

Thanks, Christine. You are right that each cat is completely different in personality than every other one. It keeps things interesting. Glad I have a future.

I have been following Greg’s blog for a few years, but was not aware of how it started. I am so sorry he had to go through the loss if his wife. I enjoy seeing his beautiful kitties.
